Five material issues and related SDGs
The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are international goals for the period from 2016 to 2030 described in the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015, and are common goals for all people on the planet, including not only governments but also companies and civil society. It consists of 17 goals and 169 targets to realize a sustainable world, and aims to realize a world where "no one is left behind." Based on the goals and targets of the SDGs, artience group linked 12 goals that are particularly closely related to business activities to material issues, and showed how the Group will contribute to the goals and targets.
Relationship with SDGs in the Value Chain
Based on the SDG Compass (SDGs Corporate Action Guidelines), the Group has clarified its relationship with the SDGs in its value chain.

Material Issue 1: Provide value that exceeds customer expectations and contribute to society

3.4 We will promote the health and welfare of consumers through the prevention and treatment of diseases through transdermal patches and new medical and healthcare businesses.

3.9 We will manage hazardous chemical substances and take measures against soil and groundwater contamination to reduce the impact on consumer health.
6.3 Contribute to improving water quality by reducing chemical emissions, reusing water, and properly treating water.

12.2 We will promote product development using biomass raw materials and aim for effective use of natural resources.
12.4 We will utilize LCA (life cycle assessment) to quantify and reduce the environmental impact of our products over their life cycles.
12.5 We will promote the 3Rs and reduce waste emissions.
13.1 We will reduce CO2 emissions and mitigate climate change through continued energy-saving activities, energy-saving investments, and production innovations.
15.1 We will continue to conduct ecosystem surveys of company-owned forests and rivers, confirm the impact of our business activities on terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems, and promote conservation activities.
15.2 We will promote sustainable management of forests by promoting the use of FSC-certified paper and using forest absorption credits in carbon offsets.

12.7 We will promote sustainable procurement (CSR procurement) based on our basic policy on procurement, supplier selection criteria, and sustainable supply chain guidelines.

4.4 We will strive to increase the number of employees with technical and vocational skills by creating jobs by expanding factories in emerging countries, supporting production, and actively developing human resources at each site.
5.1 We will promote the active participation of women by increasing the ratio of female new graduates hired and conducting training and other measures aimed at promoting career awareness among female employees.
5.5 In order to promote the participation of women in decision-making, we will increase the number of female executives and managers.
