Natural extracts
In Japan, since ancient times, pigments have been extracted from natural products such as plants and used in dyed goods and foods. A typical example of this is safflower, which is a member of the Asteraceae family. Safflower is said to have originated in Egypt and was introduced to Japan via the Silk Road from China at the end of the 3rd century. It was cultivated in Yamagata under the brand name ``Mogami Benihana'' and transported to Kyoto, where it was used for dyeing as a high-grade red color. The red color of lipstick is said to be the color of safflower.
At our Hokkaido Chitose factory, we extract red and yellow pigments from safflower. Furthermore, through many years of research, we have developed a unique manufacturing method that allows us to efficiently extract polyphenols, polysaccharides, etc., using Kumazasa, a plant endemic to Japan.
We will continue to respect Japan's traditions, culture, and climate and propose natural product extraction, purification, compounding, and formulation technologies for various fields such as food, cosmetics, and dyeing.
