TOYO INK launches "Lioatlas™ Simulator," a color scheme simulation and conversion tool that supports color universal design.

~Realizing an easy-to-identify color scheme that is easy to identify even if you don't have specialized knowledge~

TOYO INK CO., LTD. (President and Representative Director: Masato Yanagi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) is a new lineup in the ™ series of color management tools Lioatlas (Rio Atlas), a tool that simulates captured images and easily converts them into color schemes that support Color Universal Design (CUD Lioatlas™ Simulator" is now available. Even if you do not have specialized knowledge, you can easily realize an easy-to-read color scheme that is "friendly to everyone", and it eliminates the difficulty of distinguishing colors due to differences in color vision (the way you are born with the perception of colors).

"Lioatlas™ Simulator is a design tool that makes it easy to create easy-to-read images that support color universal design. Even if you don't have expertise in CUD, you can create images with color schemes that are easy to see for people with various color vision types by following the simple steps of (1) importing images into software, (2) simulating the differences in appearance depending on the color vision type, and (3) automatically converting hard-to-distinguish colors into optimal color combinations. It supports common image formats (TIFF, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG), supports direct loading of CMYK format, and can be saved with a resolution that changes the resolution of the converted image according to the purpose. (It will also be saved in CMYK format later.) )

In addition Lioatlas™ Simulator converts the color of the converted image to the CUD color scheme software "Lioatlas™ By selecting the approximate spot points imported into "CFUD", it is possible to specify the color at the time of printing. This makes it possible to easily build a color universal design workflow from design to professional printing, contributing to the realization of barrier-free color.

We also have a Dither option that enables CUD support by applying pattern processing. If you want to minimize design changes or change the hue as little as possible, try dithering.

All functions can be used free of charge for one week after downloading the software, so please try it out first.

Differences in vision depending on color vision type and color universal design

The photoreceptor cells in the retina of the human eye have rods that sense the brightness and darkness of light and cones that sense color information. The cones include "L cones" that respond to long wavelength light, and "L cones" that respond to medium wavelength light. There are three types: "M cones" that respond to light, and "S cones" that respond to short wavelength light. The color vision group (C type), which has three types of cones, accounts for the majority, but in Japan, about 5% of men and about 0.2% of women either do not have some cones or have limited spectral sensitivity. Due to this shift, colors appear differently than the C type.
It is known that there are some color combinations that are difficult to distinguish depending on the type of color vision, and color universal design is an effort to eliminate the difficulty in distinguishing colors caused by these differences in color vision. is.
