TOYO INK launches subscription service for CFUD, a color universal design tool Lioatlas™
~From everyday presentation materials to commercial products, we have realized barrier-free color~
TOYO INK CO., LTD. (President and Representative Director: Masato Yanagi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) has started offering a subscription service for the color universal design tool "Lioatlas ™ CFUD". By introducing the subscription service, we will contribute to the realization of a color universal design society by making it easy for anyone to use a tool that allows anyone to create a "color scheme" that is easy for anyone to see.
We often use ``color'' to categorize things on a daily basis to make it easier to convey information. However, it is known that humans have more than one color vision (innate way of sensing colors), and that there are combinations of colors that are difficult to distinguish depending on the type of color vision. Color universal design is an effort to resolve the difficulty in distinguishing colors caused by differences in color vision types.
"Lioatlas™ CFUD" is an assist tool that allows anyone to easily create easy-to-see color combinations that do not differ depending on the color vision type that supports Color Universal Design. Not only does it help you choose the best color combination, but it also allows you to see how colors look different depending on your color vision type.
Lioatlas™ Color scheme data created with CFUD can be directly output to graphic software such as Illustrator and InDesign, as well as Office software, so it can be used in a variety of applications, from everyday presentation materials to DTP for commercial products. The field of color design can be used in the color design stage.
What's New in Lioatlas™ CFUD
In addition to the TOYO COLOR FINDER ™ 1050 color data for offset printing, 1,700 colors for UV paper container packaging and 1,700 color spot data for gravure flexible packaging packages are newly installed as standard. Added the ability to import user-created swatch file data, and added the ability to transfer color scheme palette data created with CFUD to Microsoft Office™ for more applications such as professional design for commercial products as well as everyday presentation materials. The increase in the number of optimal color scheme options has greatly expanded the range of support for color universal design.
Lioatlas™ CFUD is available free of charge for one week after downloading the software. First of all, please try the color universal design function once.

Differences in visual appearance depending on color vision type
The photoreceptor cells in the retina of the human eye have rods that sense the brightness and darkness of light and cones that sense color information. The cones include "L cones" that sense red, and "M cones" that sense green. ” and “S cones” that sense blue. The color vision group (C type), which has three types of cones, accounts for the majority, but in Japan, about 5% of men and about 0.2% of women either do not have some cones or have limited spectral sensitivity. Due to this shift, colors appear differently than the C type.

TOYO INK Color Management Concept Lioatlas™ About
TOYO INK'S COLOR MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS BEGAN IN 1997 WITH T-COLOR ™, AN IMAGE COLOR CONVERSION TECHNOLOGY THAT UTILIZES NEURAL NETWORKS TO ACHIEVE ACCURATE COLOR REPRODUCTION ACROSS A VARIETY OF OUTPUT DEVICES. In 2004, we announced the UDing™ series of color universal design support tools that apply this technology. A total of about 15,000 bottles of the series have been distributed, contributing to the spread of color universal design to this day. In 2018, we launched the color management solution "Chiarossier (Chiarossier) ™" that responds to the difficulty of seeing due to cataracts. We have started to provide the following.
And this time, TOYO INK aims to provide "colors that are friendly to everyone" by integrating color assets such as color technology and various feature data that has cultivated as a top manufacturer in printing inks. We have launched a new color management concept called "Lioatlas™" that supports color universal design from design to printing and processing, helping to accurately convey information to more people, and through the richness of color, " We will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society as a "company that creates lifestyle and culture."
